Feel like you want to make change but then quickly fizzle out? Guess what. You are totally normal. What you are going through is the change cycle and once you learn the right tools to manage it, you can stop spinning and start getting results.
The Change Cycle
Step 1: Discontent
We only want to change things that we are unhappy with or that we think could be better. The first sign of The Change Cycle is that nagging feeling that you want more.
Step 2: Breaking Point
That moment when you have "officially" had enough. Some might call this the "fuck this shit" moment.
Step 3: Decision to Change
Then you quickly decide, "This is it! I'm not putting up with this anymore." You decide to change your diet, break up with that jerk, ask for a raise, etc.
Step 4: Fear
"Oh shit! What if I can't do this? What will have to change? What if I can't do it? What will people say?"
Step 5: Amnesia
"Why did I want to change again?"
Step 6: Backtrack
"Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. This isn't that bad. I would rather not try then fail."
