Did I ever tell you about my alter ego?
Her name is Militia. [get it?]
My mom's boyfriend gave me that nickname. At the time I hated it, but little did I know that years later it was going to serve me in ways I could never have imagined. Losing weight is hard. Damn, I just said it. It's true. IT IS FUCKING WERRRRKKKK! It's fun work. It builds grit and character, it's worth it, but it's work. About 6 years ago, while on the torturous stairmaster, I decided to create an alter ego. Over the next year, every time I got on that goddamn machine I would let my mind "wander with intention" AKA manifest. Yeah! I didn't know it at the time, but that is exactly what I was doing.
I was envisioning Militia so that I could become her.
I got so damn good at it that I knew exactly how she dressed, what she thoughts, her character traits, the words she used, how she talked to people, what she thought. This not only made my cardio go by quicker, but it helped me stay very clear on why I was "putting myself through it". T-E-N-A-C-I-T-Y!!! Say it with me! Tenacity. And guess what, I AM NOW Militia! Yup, the Melissa you listen to, read, or watch, she is exactly who I dreamt up, but with better hair than she could have imagined ;)
